Creamy Sausage Tortellini Soup

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.

I love a good soup, especially a soup that includes pasta. Creamy Sausage Tortellini Soup is a one pot stop. You don’t need to dirty every pan you own to make a meal your family will enjoy. It’s creamy, it’s cheesy and it is just downright delicious. Pair it with my Homemade French Bread or Homemade Dinner Rolls and it is guaranteed to become everyone’s new favorite meal.

More family favorite meals: Pesto Almond Chicken, Sloppy Joe Pasta Casserole, Buffalo Chicken Pasta and One Pot Chicken Parmesan.

Truly my whole goal of all my recipes is to bring us all back to our kitchens and back to our dinner tables. They don’t have to be these extravagant meals. We just need reasonable, doable and achievable meals to make that we can enjoy with the ones we love. In a crazy world let your dinner table be your home base to reconnect over laughs and good homecooked food.

Easy weekday meals: White Sauce Chicken Enchiladas, Sheet Pan Dinner, Coconut Chicken and Crockpot Taco Soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 3 tsp garlic, minced or garlic salt
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • dash of salt and pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 package cheese tortellini
  • parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In Dutch oven start by browning the Italian sausage. Season with 1 tsp onion powder and 3 tsp garlic.
  2. Once sausage is cooked add 3 Tbsp flour and stir until flour has dissolved.
  3. Add in 1 tsp basil, 1/2 tsp oregano, 1 tsp mustard, salt and pepper and 5 cups chicken broth. Give it a good stir.
  4. Add in 1 cup of milk and 1 package tortellini. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce to a simmer and cover. Be sure to stir every few minutes so your tortellini or meat doesn’t stick to the bottom of your pan.
  6. Let simmer until tortellini is cooked. About 5-7 minutes.
  7. Serve hot and top each serving with parmesan cheese.

Substitutes

You can switch out sausage for ground beef. If you do this, I would just add in about 1 tsp Italian seasoning.
